British Teen Admits Attempt To Hack Into CIA Chief's Computer

18 year old Kane Gamble has admitted trying to hack computers of senior US government officials at Leicestershire Crown court.

He targeted:

  • Former CIA Director, John Brennan
  • Former Deputy Director of FBI, Mark Giuliano
  • Former US Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson
  • Former US Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper 
  • Barack Obama's Deputy National Security Adviser, Avril Haines

What are the Charges on British Teen

According to Mirror, Kane Gamble pleaded guilty to 10 Charges at Leicester Own Court.

Gamble was accused of "causing a computer to perform a function to secure unauthorized access to a program or data held in computers" belonging to John Brennan between 1st June and 30 October 2015.

The Second offense involved attempting to gain unauthorized access to the computer of US Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson between 4th July and 22 October 2015.

On October 17, 2015, Gamble tried to access the computer of Ms Haines.

In between October 18 and Christmas Day 2015, the teenager targeted FBI Special Agent Amy Hess.

He attempted to gain access to the computer of Mr Giuliano between October 29 and November 16, it was reported.

And between November 2 and November 22, 2015, the defendant tried to hack into an FBI portal.

The next count involved a Comcast account operated by James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence under President Obama, which Gamble targeted between January 4 and January 12, 2016.

Between January 5 and January 18, 2016, he tried to gain access to the computer of Vonna Weir Heaton, the former intelligence executive of the US National Geospatial Intelligence Agency.

Between January 17 and January 20, 2016, Gamble targeted a Comcast account operated by Mr Holdren.

The final charge involved an attempt to gain access to the US Department of Justice's network between January 26 and February 4, 2016.

Currently Kane Gamble is released on conditional bail. He will be sentenced at the court in mid-December.
